1 Objective
As a complement to the loan of access control equipment, we are sending you this document which specifies the essential technical requirements to be able to operate the loaned equipment and some recommendations so that access to your event goes as smoothly as possible.
2 Technical requirements
The technical requirements for access control vary depending on the venue where the event takes place.
Sites with stable connection
In the case of a site with a stable internet connection, the necessary requirements would only be a minimum connection with 6 Mb download.
Furthermore, this connection must be arranged at a distance of no more than 15 metres and with minimum obstacles in the way, such as walls, doors or other similar obstacles that reduce the signal strength.
In case a favourable distance for the connection of access control devices cannot be guaranteed, a signal replicator or any other network device (routers, access points or wifi extenders) must be included as a mandatory requirement to guarantee a correct and interference-free signal.
It is recommended that access control devices have their own dedicated WIFI network, as this reduces the likelihood of the WIFI network being down and ensures a connection with no drop in speed.
Sites without stable connection
If a stable connection is not available, several network devices can be used to ensure the correct use of access control equipment.
Although there is access control equipment with 3G connection that is fully operational in these conditions, it is advisable to place some connection equipment (4G router) that allows the setting up of a network and ensures maximum efficiency of the Wifi it generates.
The placement of a 4G router would be carried out, after testing, at the point of maximum coverage and from this point extend the network, allowing us to place several access points where it is necessary.
In the case of 3G access control equipment only, this shall be subject to the coverage of the control point.
3 Recommendations
In order to ensure proper access control, it is advisable to follow a series of recommendations.
- Firstly, the entire site connection should be tested the day before the event to ensure that it is working properly and to allow for reaction time in case any point in the network is not functioning properly.
- Access control equipment must be fully charged (100%) at the start of the control.
- Sessions shall be uploaded to the access control equipment a minimum of one hour before the start of the control. This will allow the helpdesk staff to resolve any issues prior to the start of the control.
- The access control shall have a shaded location, the light beam system of the access control may be affected in case of excessive light.
- In order to ensure smooth access, access control should be arranged in a location that avoids queues of spectators and also allows the staff in charge to maintain control and order of those attending the event.
- It is recommended to have at least one access control system for every 800 expected attendees. This may vary depending on the access time and type of event. The ideal recommendation is one device for every 500 attendees. If mobile devices are used instead of access control equipment, it should be taken into account that camera validation is slower and will require a higher equipment count (our recommendation is one mobile device for every 200 attendees).
- It is also recommended to have one backup access control device for every two devices in use.
- It is recommended to activate the read confirmation mode via vibration: How to set vibration as read confirmation.
4 Service limits
Onebox TDS will not be held responsible in any case for any incidents arising in access control due to the omission of the recommendations above.
Likewise, Onebox TDS shall not be held responsible for the operation of networks outside or not provided by Onebox.
